44!

Last night my main alt on City of Heroes hit level 44. I am terribly pleased about that even if I did realize while playing that the colors on her new costume are HIDEOUS!

I shall have to post a sceen shot of her in a non-hideous outfit this weekend.

The one.... The only....

Tactical Bacon! 54 slices of canned bacony goodness.*

* this was purchased from thinkgeek.com as a gift for a bacon obsessed co-worker.  He was absolutely thrilled and is actually planning on eating the bacon at some point, he's a very brave man.  I highly recommend this as a gift to any bacon lovers in your life.

Spyrograph!

Well a "hypotrochoid art set" to be exact. Whatever, it's a gear
based doodle producing system and I'm having loads of fun.

Sunday List

  • 8 loads of laundry done.  Much more than normal, washed bedding and holiday linens
  • 10 books to read and return before March 5th.  Am judging a couple of different categories for a contest.  Book 1 is in progress.
  • 1 episode of the new season of Hidamari watched.  Loved it, would watch it again but won't so that I don't drive Sweetie nuts
  • 2 boxes of out of season clothes, 1 box of summer shoes, 1 box of misc. holiday stuff and linens, 1 small wire bookshelf, and an empty tub hauled downstairs to storage.
  • 1 brunch with friends that was super fun.
  • 2 cute puppies needing more snuggles
  • and 8 loads of laundry needing to be put away :P  (this has been started but was abandoned for book reading, need to get it done before bedtime or we won't be able to sleep!)

Hidamari Sketch

Wahoo, season one is on it's way to my house right now and I found two extra episodes from the season 2 DVD on-line today which was awesome.  And any day now season 3 starts,  so very happy!

Today wasn't as productive as I was hoping.  But that's okay, I think I have our shoe storage dilemma figured out.  Sweetie and I talked about my idea when he came home and didn't instantly veto it like I had it in my head that he would.  Other than that I just did a little bit of housework, goofed around on COH for a bit, ran an errand and hung out with the pups.  It's been a nice day off.

That's much better

Today was a much, much better day at work.  We were able to reign in the remaining crazy from yesterday and B. was able to work some serious miracles and get the problems resolved.

This evening was seriously yummy fried rice using a spice packet from H-Mart and a tasty frozen veggie mix.  Then R. and I totally kicked some bad guy butt on City of Heroes and made it halfway to level 44 which is super awesome.  We're 6 levels way from maxed out, I think this will be her 2nd level 50 and my first.  I'm hella excited.  But then I suppose I'll have to start bringing up one of my smaller alts or start over from scratch.

Tomorrow is a day off and there will hopefully be a combo of reading, cleaning and sewing with just a tiny bit of errand running.  And a possibility of going to the art museum with friends in the evening if Sweetie is up for it after work.

Meh day saved at the last minute

Seems like people at work were more unreasonable and difficult than normal.  My co-workers were fine but we all kept getting snarked at and some really complex problems sprang up today on large interconnected systems managed by several different agencies. By the end of the day we were all little shell shocked.  Even B, one of the most relaxed and even tempered people I've worked with had to work really hard to politely reply to a particularly shit-tastic email.  Another co-worker got an equally shitty email from a completely different person on a completely different issue, decided there was no good response and just deleted it.

This morning it was overcast but not terribly cold, a co-worker claimed it was 40 degrees at one point, not sure if I believe that or not.  At lunch time it was still overcast, a bit colder and it was kinda spitting styrofoam snow.  Quitting time there was about 3-4" of fluffy snow, the roads were nasty, and it took twice as long as normal to get home.

So unsurprisingly I was in quite a mood when I got home, but it all dissipated as soon as I walked in the door.  Sweetie cleaned up the kitchen, straightened up the living room and had dinner bubbling away on the stove.  He even made me fizzy juice!  (fruit juice mixed with plain carbonated water)  Balance has been restored to my universe.  I'm now going to play with the dogs and maybe listen to some Zee Avi or Owl City.

first 3 books

All graphic novels/manga so far.  I'm busy reading Deadtown by Nancy Holzner but am not quite done yet.

Book 1 Yokaiden, vol 2 by Nina Matsumoto
Book 2 Gakuen Alice, vol 9 by Tachibana Higuchi
Book 3 Umbrella Academy: Dallas by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba

I'm really loving the Umbrella Academy books, although seeing all the ultra violence and gore in bright shiny color is quite a shift from the black and white of the manga I've been focusing on recently.  Not quite sure what it says about me that I went from Yokaiden, which is a questy fairy tail set in oldey-timey Japan with all sorts of interesting traditional Japanese monsters, to Gakuen Alice, a girly shojo manga mystery, to uber adult Umbrella Academy.

AWESOME

So not to long ago I finally succumbed and setup a Facebook page, mainly to keep in touch with friends like J who live ever so far away on the west coast.  I friended people I know IRL and my Mom - have to friend Mom.  Randomly checking the site, mainly from my phone when I'm super bored at work, but for the most part ignoring it.   Except when I start thinking about all the privacy and security issues that arise from sites Facebook which make me feel oogy - I work in IT managing various security devices so I come by this naturally.

But last night my cousin S, who I haven't seen in years friended me and it is AWESOME.  I've been thinking about him and the rest of my family who live ever so far away up north.  We chatted just a little bit tonight which was also AWESOME.

Hooray for technology and weird websites

Quiet Day

Read a bit, played COH with a friend, got a bunch of holiday badges, started to feel a bit oogy, laid down for a bit, then watched Solty Rei with my Sweetie. All in all it was a very good day.

Happy New Year

Today was a fantastic start to the New Year.  We had a fantastic time hanging out with our friend Nate.  Books were purchased, the asian market was raided, Stir Fry and peach mead was consumed, anime was watched and mochi ice cream treats were devoured.  I was even able to send a pretty piece of fabric home with her.  All in all it was a wonderful way to start the new year, now I'm off to drink some strong bow and watch my beloved Hidamari Sketch.

Hugs!
